The team of the School of Improvisation and Performance "The Art of Being" and the Honesty Improvisational Theater
expresses their support for the co-founder and co-leader of the project, Katrina Gridina, in her intention to perform at the 58th Avignon Festival "OFF" . She will speak and dance about the issues of forced emigration, honestly revealing the stories of thousands of people living in France, Turkey, Serbia, Montenegro, Lithuania, Argentina, Thailand, Armenia, Portugal, Poland, Germany, England, Croatia, and other parts of the world in 2022-2024.

For us personally, this is an opportunity, while being in different countries, to be close to the author of the performance... Holding the lantern, directing the light beam onto the stage, switching the music, showing slides, printing posters, distributing flyers, filming the event, welcoming the audience, and immersing them in the atmosphere of the upcoming performance with warmth and an open heart.
We did not receive a grant for the production, but the performance is already included in the festival program, and Katrina is diligently working on bringing the concept to life. The show is coming up soon, and we invite everyone who resonates with this topic to make a personal contribution to the birth of the performance.

We strive for our project to become not only a platform for open dialogue about the psychological aspects of emigration accompanied by political conflicts, violence, anxiety, and fear but also an artistic stimulus for the collective exploration of issues that require solutions in contemporary society.
ABOUT the PERFORMANCE
According to the UN, over the past two years, about one million Russians have left the country, escaping war and political repression. These people face numerous difficulties, including loss of identity, isolation, and adaptation to new conditions.
"Being Russian 2022-2024" is an interactive improvisational solo performance that will take place from
July 5-7 at the "Au Chapeau Rouge" theater. It will guide the audience through the psychological aspects of Russian emigration from 2022 to 2024, offering an authentic perspective on resilience and self-identity in a fragmented world.

PURPOSE
After the first performance, we will gather photos, videos, and reviews to send to theaters, art spaces, and galleries in other countries that have received a large wave of emigration, with the aim of organizing performances there.
Through the realization and dissemination of the project's results, we plan to:
Contribute to the prevention of biased, distorted attitudes and discrimination against Russian citizens in France and around the world.
Arouse public interest in the psychological aspects of forced emigration.
Provide forced migrants with the opportunity to share their stories, feelings, and experiences with a wide audience.
Offer moral support to victims of nationality-based discrimination.
Provide our performance audience with a unique perspective on forced emigration and the experience of collectively seeking solutions to the mentioned problems through direct and ongoing interaction.
